A gravestone can be any height, width, thickness, material, and decorative options, so long as it fits the gravesite and doesn’t infringe on the cemetery’s rules for grave identification. Uniquely crafted plaques may either be used as spot identification for mausoleum tombs, or as placeholders for cremation chambers.
If you would prefer, a unique plaque can also be installed on a bare faced tombstone to create a fancier and longer lasting burial piece. Similar items are commonly used for those in public or military service, the results are quite nice. On occasion, they may be used in pet cemeteries, although this is less common.
Bronze plaques of multiple sizes can be polished, wire-brushed, etched, engraved, etc., to provide a unique tribute to the deceased. Bronze holds up really well because it has no iron in it, which means it will not rust over time. It does contain some level of copper, which may cauze it to gain a sort of verdigris finish. It can be restored to nearly new bronze finish if you decide that the green patina is not to your liking.
Granite plaques come in red, gray, and black and are rough-hewn, smooth, polished to shine, or any number of finishes you find appealing. Tooling around the edges create really lovely effects for this type of stone. It has been used for centuries to mark graves because it is so durable and attractive. There are multiple in-store examples so that you can see and touch the options before making a decision.
Wind and weather are rarely kind to metal and stone after multiple decades. As a result, you might have a tombstone or other funerary item of a long past relative that is in need of some TLC. Most tributes to the deceased entail customized letters or etched plates. Charge per character is common, with a certain number of characters included in the initial pricing. If you have a lot you want to say on the plate or grave marker, ask about pricing.
The etching process also includes additional options. Antique, for example, creates a black etched lettering in a plaque or stone of your choice. Line etched work is more of a fluid impression in the metal with no black lines. Frosted etched creates an opaque look over the metal or stone.
